Laurent Blanc's men took the lead in the third minute when Gregory van der Wiel collected a pass from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and whipped a cross into the box, which allowed Adrien Rabiot to head his effort beyond Johan Wiland.
The visitors doubled their advantage through Angel di Maria as he raided into space down the flank and was picked out by a through-ball from Blaise Matuidi. The Argentine held his composure to fire his effort across goal to find the bottom corner.
Jo Inge Berget should have brought Malmo back into the match when he weaved his way through the PSG defence, but he was denied a goal by a fine save from Kevin Trapp to stop his low strike.
Les Parisiens had the opportunity to put the game beyond the reach of the home side before the break when Ibrahimovic played Edinson Cavani through down the right inside channel, but the striker was denied by the post.
In the second half, Ibrahimovic marked his homecoming with a goal when he robbed Anton Tinnerholm of possession to bear down on goal, and his strike proved to have too much power for Wiland to keep out of the net.
The Swedish side were handed the opportunity to get a goal back when Nikola Djurdjic was brought down in the box by Maxwell, and the referee awarded a penalty. Markus Rosbenberg took the spot kick, but his effort struck the post and bounced clear.
Di Maria poured further misery on Malmo when he added his second goal of the night by sending a pinpoint pass to Maxwell on the left flank and then carried on his run into the box from the right to head home the Brazilian's cross.
Blanc's side notched their fifth goal courtesy of Lucas Moura as he curled his free kick from the edge of the box beyond Wiland into the top corner to seal the emphatic victory.
