Half-Time Report: Own goal gives Paris Saint-Germain lead

An own goal from Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier helps Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-0 lead at half time in Ligue 1.

An own goal by Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier has helped Paris Saint-Germain to take a 2-0 lead into half time of their Ligue 1 clash this evening.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic tried to open the scoring early on with a long-range effort, but his powerful strike was comfortably held by Ruffier.

The Swedish striker was involved again a couple of minutes later, but was flagged for offside while chasing down a through-ball from Marquinhos.

However, it was a mistake by their opponents that gave the home side the lead, as Ruffier made a poor first touch while attempting to control a back-pass, allowing the ball to bobble into his own net.

Florentin Pogba came close to getting the visitors back on level terms, but his header from a Fabien Lemoine cross was blocked, while Mevlut Erding saw his effort tipped over by Salvatore Sirigu shortly before the break.

However, Ibrahimovic was able to double the French champions' advantage on the stroke of half time, heading in from a Maxwell cross from the centre of the box.
