Paris Saint-Germain provide a positive update on Kylian Mbappe's knee injury ahead of their upcoming clashes with Nice and Borussia Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is set to train as normal on Thursday following an injury scare on international duty.

The 24-year-old risked the prospect of an entire season on the bench after informing the club that he would not extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.

Luis Enrique subsequently left Mbappe out of his squad for their opening Ligue 1 draw with Lorient, but following clear-the-air talks with the club, he has been re-integrated into the first team.

Since coming back into the fold, the former Monaco starlet has found the back of the net five times in three Ligue 1 matches, before setting up Aurelien Tchouameni's thunderbolt in France's Euro 2024 qualifying win over the Republic of Ireland on September 7.

However, Mbappe was then left on the bench when Les Bleus lost 2-1 to Germany in a subsequent friendly, and head coach Didier Deschamps revealed that the forward had been nursing a knee injury.

Mbappe's diagnosis inevitably led to fears about his availability for a crucial period of autumnal fixtures, as PSG once again prepare to juggle Ligue 1 and Champions League commitments.

The club have provided a reassuring update on the Frenchman's fitness, though, announcing in a medical update that he is due to train on Thursday as normal following "clinical examinations".

As a result, Enrique should have Mbappe at his disposal when the Ligue 1 champions host Nice at the Parc des Princes on Friday, four days before their Champions League opener at home to Borussia Dortmund.

Following the visit of the Bundesliga giants, Enrique's men welcome Marseille to the capital for the first Classique of the season on September 24, before travelling to meet Newcastle United in the Champions League on April 4.

While Mbappe will seemingly be available for PSG's sequence of pivotal fixtures, the same cannot be said for Marco Asensio, who sustained a foot problem in Spain's 7-1 thrashing of Georgia and missed La Roja's 6-0 win over Cyprus on Tuesday.

The French champions have confirmed that the former Real Madrid man will remain absent until the end of the month at the very least, which could potentially see him return at St James' Park.

Asensio had hit the ground running at the Parc des Princes with two goals and an assist from his opening three French top-flight matches, operating in a false nine role for compatriot Enrique.

However, the PSG boss has fellow summer signings Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos waiting in the wings, while Fabian Ruiz (thigh), Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) and Nuno Mendes (hamstring) are absent too.

South Korea attacker Lee Kang-in is also nursing a muscular injury, but the 22-year-old has nevertheless been called up to his national team for the upcoming Asian Games, and PSG are supposedly prepared to let him participate in the tournament.

The gold medal and bronze medal matches at the Asian Games are due to be played on October 7, meaning that Lee could miss PSG's showdowns with Dortmund, Marseille and Newcastle depending on how far South Korea progress.
