Unai Emery: 'Thiago Silva needs to focus on Paris Saint-Germain'

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery tells Thiago Silva to work on his recovery from a hip problem before focusing on a return for the Brazilian national team.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has said that Thiago Silva must focus on returning to full fitness for his club before switching his attention to international football.

Silva missed the start of the 2016-17 campaign with a hip problem, but made his return in PSG's 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League last week.

The centre-back is back in the Brazil fold under new boss Tite having been frozen out by former manager Dunga, but Emery first wants him to return to fitness for the French champions.

"He is feeling well. He's improving physically after his injury and he needs to play several games in a row. Every Brazilian player I know really likes being with the national team and he's preparing," Emery told reporters.

"He was with us during the pre-season, he did not go to the Olympics. But his priority is to play with PSG, then he thinks about the Selecao. He's an important player for us. He has the experience we want for the team."

According to a report from Italy, AC Milan are interested in re-signing Silva, whose current deal with PSG will expire in the summer of 2018.
