Maxwell talks up chance to pass Lyon in Ligue 1 title race

Paris Saint-Germain defender Maxwell urges his team to take their chance to topple Ligue 1 leaders Lyon by producing a win at the Stade de Gerland.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Maxwell has urged his side to grasp the opportunity to leapfrog Lyon into pole position in the Ligue 1 table.

PSG visit Hubert Fournier's men on Sunday knowing that a win will lift them above Lyon into first place, with Maxwell keen to highlight that the game will be important in influencing the club's title ambitions.

"It's not a decisive match, but it's a very important game for us if we want to win the championship," Maxwell told PSG TV.

"This is a great opportunity to pass Lyon - that's long overdue. We work hard at it. We will show a lot of strength in Lyon to try to beat a team that deserves to be leading the championship."

PSG currently hold third place in the Ligue 1 table, two points behind Lyon after 23 games.
