Paris Saint-Germain defender Diego Lugano admits that being omitted from Carlo Ancelotti's Champions League squad has forced a re-think over his future.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Diego Lugano has admitted that he may be forced to leave France if it affects his international future.

Lugano was left out of Carlo Ancelotti's 25-man squad for the Champions League, leading to speculation surrounding the Uruguay captain's future.

He told Ovacion: "It is a challenge that I initiated myself, and then again, my contract was also very lucrative.

"My salary is high, I live in France, and play for a great team, so that was enough not to prompt me to leave during the summer.

"However, if the situation at PSG has a negative effect on myself being called up for national duty, I will consider my options. Uruguay are too important for me to neglect them."

Lugano has fallen down the pecking order at PSG following the summer signing of Thiago Silva from AC Milan.
