Joey Barton insists that the referee was wrong to send him off following a clash with Bradley Johnson.

Joey Barton has insisted that he did not deserve to be sent off during Queens Park Rangers' home loss to Norwich City this afternoon.

The QPR captain opened the scoring at Loftus Road before being handed his marching orders following a clash with Canaries midfielder Bradley Johnson.

"Well feel for the officials, they've been conned," he wrote on Twitter. "Admitted to me at HT they never saw it. I was pulled back 1st, then kicked 2nd!

"Linesman definitely never saw it, all he seen was Johnsons reaction. My head dosent move forward at all. Ridiculous decision seen 25 replays.

"Make ur own minds up when u see it. The games gone!"

Barton's goal was his second since joining Rangers in the summer.
