Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alejandro Faurlin has been ruled out for around nine months with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The 27-year-old suffered the problem during QPR's 2-1 victory against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Manager Harry Redknapp recently conceded that he feared the worst regarding the Argentine's complaint and his pessimism has now been confirmed.
"It's a really nasty cruciate injury," QPR's head of medical services, Peter Florida James, told the club's official website.
"We're all desperately disappointed for Ali, but he is a great professional and I'm sure he'll work just as hard at recovering from this injury as he did from his previous ACL rupture."
Faurlin signed for the R's from Instituto in 2009.
