Kevin Gallen "shocked" by Harry Redknapp exit

Kevin Gallen admits that he is "shocked" by Harry Redknapp's decision to step down as QPR manager.

Former Queens Park Rangers striker Kevin Gallen has admitted that he is "shocked" by Harry Redknapp's resignation as manager.

Redknapp left the club on Tuesday, citing upcoming knee surgery as the main factor behind his decision.

However, Gallen believes that a lack of transfer activity on deadline day at Loftus Road could be the real reason why Redknapp quit.

"I am quite shocked really. Tony Fernandes gave Harry the dreaded vote of confidence a couple of weeks ago so I thought he would stay until the end of the season at least," he told Sky Sports News.

"He didn't look a happy man on deadline day, when no-one came into the club, no signings were made. His demeanour just seemed to say he was not happy, so I think there might be more to this than meets the eye."

Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have been placed in temporary charge of the team, who are currently one point adrift of safety in the Premier League table.
