Chris Ramsey 'shocked' by Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers departure

Chris Ramsey admits that he was 'shocked' to see Harry Redknapp resign as QPR manager, but is confident that the owners will find the right replacement.

Chris Ramsey has admitted that it was a "big surprise" to see Harry Redknapp leave Queens Park Rangers.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss resigned earlier this week, claiming that he needs to undergo double knee surgery.

Ramsey has taken on the role on a temporary basis alongside Kevin Bond, while Les Ferdinand was promoted to director of football following Redknapp's exit.

"It's always a surprise when something like this happens," Ramsey said in this morning's press conference. "It was a shock, a big surprise.

"We all knew Harry had a knee problem, but he never moaned. He just got on with the job. I'm in this role with Kevin Bond to steady the ship until the club appoints someone to take the role.

"It's down to the owners to decide who they think is the best fit for the club. They will decide who is the best for QPR."

Tim Sherwood has been tipped as the favourite to replace Redknapp, but recent reports have claimed that there has been a dispute over personal terms.
