Neil Warnock returns to Queens Park Rangers in first-team advisory role

Former manager Neil Warnock returns to Queens Park Rangers in a first-team advisory role.

Former Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has rejoined the club in a first-team advisory role.

The 66-year-old has returned in a part-time capacity, advising the coaching set-up and working under director of football Les Ferdinand.

The former Crystal Palace manager told the club's website that he is delighted to be returning to Loftus Road.

He said: "It is an honour to be back here as part of [Chris Ramsey's] managerial team and at this stage of my career, it is a perfect role for me to come into.

"Full-time management does not interest me anymore, but if I can help Chris and QPR by acting as a sounding board, then that is great.

"I have often been quoted as saying there is a gap in the structure of a football club for someone to come in to be a sounding board and offer advice and I am delighted Chris has shown his faith in me in this role."

Current QPR manager Ramsey admitted that he had attempted to get Warnock in the past and believes that his invaluable Championship experience will help his side push on after a tough start.

The 53-year-old added: "Neil has a passion for this club and for football in general, and he's got too much to offer for us to waste an opportunity to tap into his knowledge.

"Adding someone to the backroom team has been on my mind for some time and I know Neil well, having spoken to him at length during his time at Crystal Palace when we were in talks about me going to join him as part of his staff."

Warnock will officially begin his new role with the club tomorrow.
