Preview: Luton Town vs. Queens Park Rangers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Luton Town and Queens Park Rangers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Queens Park Rangers are without a win in 10 games across all competitions and they travel to Luton Town on Tuesday hoping to turn their fortunes around.

The game was initially scheduled to be played earlier this month, but an outbreak of coronavirus at Luton resulted in a postponement.

QPR suffered an early exit to Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup last Saturday at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

The Hoops pushed their London rivals all the way through to extra time, before succumbing to a 2-0 defeat courtesy of goals from Bobby Reid and Neeskens Kebano.

Mark Warburton's men are also just two points above the relegation zone in the Championship, and find themselves needing a drastic improvement in order to avoid dropping into the third tier of English football.

Their woeful run of form - now 10 games without a win in all competitions - can be chiefly attributed to having a toothless attack, which has yielded only 20 goals in 22 league games.

Unlike QPR, Luton have progressed into the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 triumph over Reading on Saturday.

George Moncur's strike on the half-hour mark was enough for the Hatters to secure passage into the next stage of this year's edition of the world's oldest domestic cup competition.

Nathan Jones's men are now unbeaten in their last seven home games across all competitions, six of which have come in the Championship, and another victory on Tuesday would put them right in contention for the last playoff spot.

Luton are winless against QPR in their previous two meetings, but have a fantastic opportunity to change that come Tuesday.

Team News

Lee Wallace is still unavailable for the trip, having missed all of QPR's last eight games with a calf problem.

The away side will also be without Osman Kakay, who is expected to remain on the sidelines, while Luke Amos and Charlie Owens are ruled out with knee injuries.

Luton's Dan Potts appears to have recovered from an ankle injury after a start in the FA Cup tie versus Reading, which comes on the back of a substitute appearance in the game before that.

James Bree marked his return to action from a knee injury with an assist, but a start in this one might just come too soon.

Luton Town possible starting lineup:
Sluga; Potts, Lockyer, Bradley, Norrington-Davies; Rea; Cornick, Dewsbury-Hall, Berry, LuaLua; Collins

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Dieng; Kane, Dickie, Barbet, Hamalainen; Adomah, Carroll, Cameron, Ball, Osayi-Samuel; Dykes

We say: Luton Town 2-1 Queens Park Rangers

For a team struggling as much as QPR, a trip to Kenilworth Road is a very difficult task which would most likely spell another defeat and see their winless streak extend to 11 games.
