Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly plotting a January move for Premier League veteran Yakubu.
The 32-year-old - now at Qatari club Al Rayyan - is out of contract with the Middle Eastern side in the summer and Redknapp is keen on luring him to Loftus Road, according to The Mirror.
The Rangers manager is thought to be in the market for another striker next month to help share the goalscoring burden with in-form Charlie Austin.
A move for Toronto hitman Jermain Defoe had been touted, but the Nigerian is said to represent a cheaper alternative, with Redknapp previously signing him for Portsmouth.
Yakubu has also enjoyed spells at Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn, scoring a total of 130 goals for English clubs before leaving for China in 2012.
