Half-Time Report: Rangers lead Dumbarton through Lee McCulloch and Lewis McLeod strikes

Rangers lead Dumbarton 2-0 at the break with goals from Lee McCulloch and Darren McGregor.

Rangers lead Dumbarton 2-0 at half time with goals from Lee McCulloch and Darren McGregor in the Scottish Championship.

Rangers were dominating the opening stages of the match but the first real chance of the half fell to Dumbarton, as Ross Campbell's cross found Colin Nish but Steve Simonsen saved well.

Ally McCoist's side threatened for the first time after 10 minutes as Darren McGregor's early ball from the right found Kris Boyd in the box, but his snapshot was dragged narrowly wide.

Rangers opened the scoring on the 15th minute after MacLeod's corner was volleyed home by skipper Lee McCulloch.

Lewis Macleod nearly doubled the lead two minutes later but the woodwork saved Dumbarton after a 30-yard strike.

Rangers hit the post again on the 20th minute after Clark brought the ball down before shooting from close range.

McGregor scored his first goal for Rangers on the 30th minute with a near-post finish giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Rangers were dominant as the half-time whistle approached and the home side were really pushing for more goals despite being two to the good.
