Rangers chairman David King has explained why the club selected Steven Gerrard as their new manager.
The Gers owners said that the Liverpool legend was the right choice because his "character" outweighs his lack of experience at senior management level.
"A lot of the other managers who have been named, they have had experience but that experience was not necessarily good. Steven's character outweighed his inexperience," BBC Sport quotes King as saying.
Gerrard, who was previously youth coach with Liverpool, has named former Reds teammate Gary McAllister as his assistant at Ibrox.
The ex-England international replaces Graeme Murty, who was sacked earlier this week, at the Rangers helm.
