Kenny McDowall: Rangers "just couldn't get a goal"

Kenny McDowall says that Rangers were unlucky not to score against Cowdenbeath following a 0-0 Scottish Championship draw.

Kenny McDowall has insisted that the effort was evident in Rangers's draw against Cowdenbeath and that the team were unlucky not to score.

Rangers failed to give the Dave King era a winning start, as they struggled with the conditions in Fife.

"It wasn't through lack of trying that we didn't get the three points, if that was the case then I would say so but the conditions were just a nightmare. We discussed the conditions and thought the wind would be a big factor," McDowall told the club's official website.

"So we decided to play with it behind us in the first half and try and get a lead and take it from there but we just couldn't get a goal on the day.

"We've said to the boys that we need to try and win every game and keep ourselves in a good position. If it's the play offs then it's the playoffs and we need to keep ourselves up there."

With neither of the Edinburgh clubs in action, Rangers had the perfect chance to gain ground on them, but the draw means that they remain third in the Scottish Championship.
