Neil McCann expects Rangers success under Mark Warburton

Neil McCann predicts that Rangers can challenge for the Scottish Premiership title under new boss Mark Warburton.

Former Rangers midfielder Neil McCann has said that the club's appointment of Mark Warburton as manager gives them a great chance of winning promotion from the Scottish Championship.

The Ibrox outfit have brought the ex-Brentford boss in on a three-year contract, with former Gers defender David Weir assisting him.

McCann believes that Warburton's recruitment policy will boost the club's chances of winning the title next season.

"Rangers are still an enormous club. I know they still have their troubles at the minute but I believe in Mark Warburton and Davie Weir they have a very good management team there," McCann told Sky Sports News.

"Mark Warburton did some terrific things with Brentford and a lot of people were surprised he didn't stay in that job but Brentford's loss is definitely Rangers' gain.

"As far as I can see he comes with a brand of football and with a real knowledge of the game. He has a fantastic knowledge of course of English players and I think you can already see the recruitment he is already looking at - apart from Danny Wilson - will come from within those leagues. I expect positive things for Rangers this season, I really do."

Rangers have signed Wilson and fellow centre-back Rob Kierney so far this summer.
