A number of Rangers senior players urge for "more answers" from owner Craig Whyte following the club's plummet into administration.

A number of Rangers players are believed to be furious at owner Craig Whyte following the Scottish outfit's drop into administration.

The Gers appointed Duff and Phelps to run the club during this unsettling period after the club lodged an administration notice on Monday.

It is understood that the players met Whyte at Murray Park earlier this week and were informed that they could lose their jobs due to the financial crisis at Ibrox.

Whyte is believed to have stated that he would do everything he could to prevent the club from insolvency. However, it is understood that the players are angered by the owner's 'false promises'.

"It all became a farce and we feel cheated," The Express quotes a senior player as saying. "It could all have been so much different. We have been led up the garden path.

"Now all the lads are thinking about what happens next and what the future holds. Whyte has already told us he could not guarantee any of us would have jobs going forward. We need more answers.

"The chairman did mention that if administration became a necessity then he would want the club to exit it by March 31 so we could play in Europe next season but we don't know what to believe now."

Whyte has reportedly jetted off to Monaco just 24 hours after the SPL champions plunged into administration.
