Rangers boss Mark Warburton has claimed that he does not have any regrets over signing Joey Barton.
The 34-year-old has been suspended by the Ibrox club for the last month after a heated training ground spat with teammate Andy Halliday.
In addition, Barton is also under investigation by the Scottish Football Association for allegedly betting on football matches.
Asked if he stands by the signing of Barton, Warburton - who did not mention the player by name - told reporters: "Absolutely. The experience, the quality was there for all to see.
"I think everyone in football was both surprised and excited by that signing. So I absolutely stand by that signing. We were active over the summer and it takes time to bed them in."
Rangers fell to a 1-0 defeat against Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
