Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez has admitted that his side are 'not showing that they belong in La Liga' after losing 5-2 to Villarreal on Monday evening.
The defeat to the Yellow Submarine was their 13th league loss of the season, with a total of 13 points leaving them in 19th position in the table.
"There aren't many arguments to be made, the ones who belong in the Primera are our fans. No one is more frustrated than I am. We're not showing that we belong in the Primera," he told reporters at a press conference.
"[The number of goals we've allowed] has been happening to us all season. We are conceding goals with incredible ease. It's not a question of defence or the goalkeeper, it's all of us. It doesn't mean anything if you have 70% and then just let in goals every time they touch the ball. It isn't a matter of attitude, it's something else, talent, my responsibility because I can't fit the right pieces together.
"We are where we are, but it isn't for a lack of attitude. There isn't a single player that goes out and doesn't give their all. Every year we are able to stay in the Primera with this budget is nothing short of a miracle. We always have to fight until the very end to stay alive."
Rayo have conceded 45 times in the league this season, which is the worst defensive record in the division.
