Deportivo La Coruna have climbed to seventh in the La Liga table following a straightforward 3-1 win away at 10-man Rayo Vallecano in Monday night's clash at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

The visitors were in front after just seven minutes when Luis Alberto's lofted pass found Celso Borges, who leapt highest and steered a close-range header straight into the bottom left corner past goalkeeper Juan Carlos.

Rayo were able to get back on level terms in the 27th minute through Adri Embarba, who fired home from very close range after latching on to a Raul Baena pass.

Just one minute elapsed before Depor were back in front, courtesy of Alberto's mazy run through the hosts' defence followed up by a clinical strike from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner.

Victor Sanchez's charges picked up from where they left off after the restart as Faycal Fajr collected a precise defence-splitting pass and forced an acrobatic save from Carlos.

They eventually succeeded in breaking Rayo's resistance and notching up the all-important third goal just after the hour, with Lucas Perez weaving past a number of defenders and slotting home.

Paco Jemez's side would finish the game with 10 men, as Patrick Ebert was given his marching orders in the 78th minute for dissent, and Depor were able to see out the remainder of the clock with ease.
