Gael Kakuta scored late on for Rayo Vallecano as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Almeria in La Liga this evening.

Lica came close early on for the visitors, but his effort from a tight angle was saved by Ruben.

Almeria's first big chance fell to Tommer Hemed, who latched on to Thievy Bifouma's pass, before seeing his strike pushed behind by Cristian Alvarez.

It was the visitors who would have the last opportunity of the first half, as Roberto Trashorras saw his header from Quini's cross saved by Ruben.

The keeper was called into action midway through the second half, as he turned wide Kakuta's low drive.

The game looked set to finish in a goalless draw until the 86th minute, when Kakuta met Alberto Bueno's cross at the back post and guided an effort into the roof of the net to seal the points for his side.
