Half-Time Report: Pavel Pogrebnyak gives Reading lead at Charlton Athletic

Reading lead Charlton Athletic at half time thanks to a Pavel Pogrebnyak strike.

Experienced striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has given Reading a 1-0 lead away at Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks passed the ball around with confidence early on, and they almost found an sixth-minute breakthrough but Johann Berg Gudmundsson's shot flashed inches past the post.

Reading weren't put off though, and they forced the first save of the match shortly after as Pogrebnyak's header was beaten away by Stephen Henderson.

However, the Russian striker found the net before the break as he collected a Jordan Obita pass, turned, and fired the ball past the goalkeeper.

Charlton struggled to create chances in the first half, as they found the visitors tough to break down.
