Brian McDermott reportedly claims that he is 'devastated' to be sacked as manager of Reading.

Brian McDermott has reportedly been left feeling 'devastated' following Reading's decision to part ways with him.

Last season's Championship winners gave the 51-year-old manager the boot after almost four years at the helm at the Madejski Stadium due to the side's dismal form in the Premier League.

McDermott expressed his sadness through his wife Sarah, who told the Reading Post that the coach wants to pass on his gratitude to the club's supporters.

Reading, who sit second from bottom in the league table with just nine games left to play, have been heavily linked with an approach for ex-Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio.
