Reading boss Nigel Adkins is targeting Billy Sharp as his first signing for his new club when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins will reportedly raid his former club Southampton this summer to sign striker Billy Sharp.

Adkins, who was appointed as Royals boss just last week, is eyeing the frontman currently on loan at Nottingham Forest as his first signing when the transfer window reopens in the summer, according to The Mirror.

Sharp was bought by Adkins when he was manager at the Saints from Doncaster Rovers in January 2012.

The 27-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions for Southampton and Forest this season, scoring 12 goals.
