Real Madrid conclude a mixed Champions League league phase campaign on Wednesday evening, when they meet Ligue 1 upstarts Brest for the very first time at the Stade Francis Le-Ble.
Los Blancos are likely to wind up in a playoff spot for the next stage of the competition as they lie 16th in the 36-team table; it would take a minor miracle for them to crack the top eight and go straight through to the last 16.
Carlo Ancelotti's men head to France on the back of a 3-0 La Liga win over Real Valladolid, where Kylian Mbappe took home the match ball, and the 26-year-old was no stranger to haunting Wednesday's hosts during his glittering spell at Paris Saint-Germain.
Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Mbappe's record against Brest ahead of Wednesday's Champions League showdown.
Kylian Mbappe record vs. Brest
Played: 10
Won: 9
Drawn: 1
Lost: 0
Goals: 9
Assists: 1
A perpetual tormentor of Brest while on the books at Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe boast 10 goal contributions from as many games against Los Pirates across all competitions.
The Real Madrid attacker has struck nine goals of his own in addition to registering one assist versus the French outfit, whom he has also never been on the losing side against, boasting nine wins and one draw on his record.
In fact, Mbappe has only failed to score or assist in two of his previous 10 appearances against Brest, although one of those blanks came in his final Ligue 1 match against them, a 2-2 draw in January 2024.
However, just a couple of weeks later, the World Cup winner scored in a 3-1 Coupe de France triumph, prior to which he also came up with a critical brace in a 3-2 top-flight win away from home in October 2023, including an 89th-minute winner.
Mbappe directly contributed to a goal in each of his first five appearances against Brest, making the net bulge in four straight matches from March 2021 to January 2022, helping PSG prevail on all four occasions.
The only other game where Mbappe was stunted against Brest was in September 2022, but PSG still came up trumps 1-0 thanks to a Neymar winner assisted by Lionel Messi.
While the 26-year-old is fond of a goal in this fixture, he is also guilty of indiscipline against Brest in particular, picking up more yellow cards against Les Pirates than any other opponent (five).
