Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Bayern Munich

Ahead of Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's previous record against the Bavarians.

Real Madrid will go into Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich in the driving seat courtesy of a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena last week.

The first leg saw Cristiano Ronaldo draw a blank for the first time in this season's competition, but his Champions League record remains unparalleled and he leads the goalscoring stakes once again this term.

The 33-year-old will once again be the main dangerman for the holders at the Bernabeu as Madrid go in search of a third successive title - a feat which has not been achieved since Bayern themselves managed it from 1974 to 1976.

Here, Sports Mole looks at Ronaldo's previous record against the German champions.

Ronaldo vs. Bayern Munich

Ronaldo has been the scourge of Bayern Munich in recent years, netting nine goals in just seven Champions League appearances; only against Juventus has he scored more in the competition.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's best moment in this fixture came in the quarter-finals last season when he scored five of Madrid's six goals in their 6-3 aggregate victory.

A hat-trick in the second leg fired Madrid through via extra time following his brace in the first leg, and he also scored twice in a 4-0 win for Madrid at the Allianz Arena in the 2013-14 semi-finals.

Ronaldo has been on the winning side in each of his last six meetings with Bayern, but the first of that run was ultimately not enough for Madrid to progress as they crashed out of the 2011-12 semi-finals on penalties, despite another brace for the Portuguese talisman.

Indeed, the 33-year-old has gone on to score at least twice every time he has found the back of the net against Bayern.
