Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata: "We always believed"

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata insists that his side "always believed" that they could turn around Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.

Alvaro Morata has insisted that Real Madrid "always believed" that they could turn around Wednesday night's Champions League match with Sporting Lisbon, despite trailing entering the 89th minute.

Bruno Cesar sent Sporting ahead early in the second half of the Group F clash, but Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the scores in the penultimate minute of normal time, before Morata headed a 95th-minute winner.

The Spain international, re-signed from Juventus in the summer, has claimed that he returned to the club "for nights like this" and has vowed to continue scoring goals for the Spanish giants.

"We didn't start the game well but Real Madrid are famous for comebacks like these and we leave here very happy. We always believed in ourselves and we proved that you can always win a game until the referee blows the final whistle," Morata told UEFA.com.

"Football is not always fair but it was fundamental to win and that's what we've done. We have to try and finish top of the group. Of course I came back here for nights like this, I want to succeed here, that's my dream. I'm working hard to do that and I want to help out with goals."

Morata, 23, has now netted twice in five appearances for Real Madrid this season.
