Pep Guardiola: 'Phillip Lahm is the ultimate player'

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola says that his skipper Phillip Lahm could play in every position on the field except for goalkeeper.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that Phillip Lahm could play in every single position on the field except for goalkeeper.

The German international is widely regarded as the best right-back in world football, but has been deployed in a midfield position at times this season.

Speaking to reporters at a pre-match press conference ahead of Bayern's Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid tomorrow evening, Guardiola was full of praise for his skipper.

"I've often said he can play in 10 positions; the only place I can't play him is in goal. He always pays attention to the details, wherever he plays, tomorrow included," said Guardiola.

"But the most important thing is that, wherever he plays, he always plays well."

Lahm is expected to continue in midfield against Los Blancos at the Allianz Arena.
