A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick and a late strike by Sami Khedira helps Real Madrid overcome a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their fifth-round Copa del Rey tie against Celta Vigo.

Real Madrid overturned a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their fifth-round Copa del Rey tie against Celta Vigo with a resounding 4-0 victory in the second to book their place in the quarter-finals.

The hosts got off to a flying start, drawing level on aggregate as early as the third minute when Cristiano Ronaldo found the top corner from just outside the area.

Jose Mourinho's side were superior throughout and they added a deserved second in the 24th minute.

Portuguese international Ronaldo flicked the ball past Celta keeper Sergio Alvarez after latching onto Luka Modric's lofted pass to put the home side in the driving seat.

The visitors' best chance fell to Park Chu-Young in the 54th minute, but the outstretching South Korean could not quite get on the end of Michael Krohn-Dehli's low ball across the face of goal.

Real were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when Sergio Ramos was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence, a late challenge on Augusto Fernandez.

However, the hosts' numerical disadvantage counted for little as Ronaldo completed his hat-trick in 87th minute before Sami Khedira hit a fourth at the death to complete the rout and set up a tie with Valencia in the next round.
