Karim Benzema's record vs. Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at Karim Benzema's record against Barcelona during his time with Lyon and Real Madrid ahead of Sunday's El Clasico.

Real Madrid will attempt to end Barcelona's quest to go an entire La Liga campaign unbeaten when they make the trip to Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Barca have dropped points eight times this season but have yet to lose, seeing them remain on course to become the first team in the post-Civil War era to achieve that feat.

The Spanish title race may officially be over, yet this weekend's clash gives Madrid's players a chance to redeem themselves following the 3-0 loss back in December that effectively ended their domestic campaign.

One of the key reasons behind Real's poor title defence has been the form of Karim Benzema, and with that in mind Sports Mole looks at the Frenchman's chances of scoring against Barca.

Karim Benzema vs. Barcelona

Benzema has faced off against the Catalan giants more than any other side during his career, with the heavy loss in the reverse match the 30th time he has come up against them.

All but three of those have come in the white of Madrid - he fired blanks in each of the Champions League encounters during his time with Lyon - scoring at a rate of around a goal every three games.

Seventeen of those previous meetings have come in La Liga, scoring in just one of the last six - an impressive scissor-kick to level up the match before Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a 2-1 comeback win at Camp Nou in April 2016.
