Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Barcelona: Will Los Blancos be missing four midfielders for El Clasico?

Sports Mole looks at Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the final of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona.

Real Madrid will be aiming to join Barcelona on 14 Spanish Super Cups when the two teams lock horns in the final of the 2025 competition on Sunday night.

Los Blancos secured their spot in the final courtesy of a 3-0 success over Mallorca in the tournament's second semi-final, 24 hours after Barcelona had beaten Athletic Bilbao 2-0 to book their position in the showpiece event.

Barcelona are the most successful side in the history of the competition with 14 trophies, but Real Madrid would move level with their bitter rivals should they manage to triumph in the latest instalment of El Clasico.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the final of the Spanish Super Cup.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Carvajal for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the clash with Villarreal on October 5.

David Alaba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 19 (vs. Las Palmas)

Alaba suffered an ACL injury in December 2023, which required two operations to fix; the defender has made excellent progress in his recovery, though, and he is set to make his long-awaited return before the end of the month.

Eder Militao

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Militao for the remainder of the campaign, as the Brazilian centre-back damaged his ACL during the clash with Osasuna.

Luka Modric

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 12 (vs. Barcelona)

Real Madrid were without Modric on Thursday night due to an illness, and it is difficult to imagine the experienced midfielder recovering in time in order to be involved against Barcelona in the final of the competition.

Aurelien Tchouameni

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Head
Possible return date: January 12 (vs. Barcelona)

Tchouameni was replaced in the early stages of the second period against Mallorca due to a head injury, and he will now need to be assessed, but the Frenchman said after the match that he is expecting to be involved in the final.

Federico Valverde

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Overload
Possible return date: January 12 (vs. Barcelona)

Valverde was substituted against Mallorca due to an overload problem, and the Uruguay international will now need to be assessed before it is determined whether he can be involved in El Clasico.

Jude Bellingham

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Overload
Possible return date: January 12 (vs. Barcelona)

Bellingham, like Valverde, was suffering with a muscular overload problem in the semi-final against Mallorca, and the England international is also therefore a slight doubt for the contest with Barcelona.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no players suspended for this match, with Vinicius Junior available to play, as his upcoming ban only relates to La Liga.
