Barcelona have revealed that Lamine Yamal suffered "a left hamstring strain" on international duty with Spain.
The 17-year-old was seen limping after Spain's 1-0 victory over Denmark on Saturday evening, with the forward being replaced in the latter stages of the UEFA Nations League contest.
Yamal had been due to represent Spain again against Serbia on Tuesday, but it was revealed on Sunday that he had withdrawn from the squad with a fitness problem.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation insisted that the forward had not sustained a "structural injury" and was instead only suffering with "an overload".
"Lamine Yamal underwent an MRI this morning in Madrid to assess the discomfort reported after the match against Denmark," read a statement from the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
"The tests did not detect any structural injury and the RFEF medical services confirmed that it was an overload. Prioritising the player's health and to avoid any risk of injury, given the imminent match against Serbia, it has been decided to withdraw him from the squad."

Barcelona confirm hamstring injury for Yamal
However, Barcelona have released a statement revealing that the Spaniard "has a left hamstring strain", which will make him a major doubt for this weekend's La Liga game against Sevilla.
"Tests carried out this morning on first team player Lamine Yamal have confirmed that he has a left hamstring strain. His return to training will be determined by his recovery time," read a statement from Barcelona.
Barcelona will be aiming to make it three straight wins in all competitions when they host Sevilla on Sunday night, before turning their attention to fixtures against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Yamal has been in excellent form for Hansi Flick's side during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring five goals and registering five assists in 11 appearances in all competitions, including four goals and five assists in nine league fixtures.

Will Yamal be available for Bayern, Real Madrid matches?
It is highly unlikely that Yamal will be involved against Sevilla this weekend, as Barcelona will surely not take any risks when it comes to the forward's fitness due to his importance to the side.
However, he is only believed to be suffering with a minor strain, so it is certainly possible that he will recover in time for the Champions League game against Bayern on October 23, and providing that he comes through that clash unscathed, then the forward should be available for El Clasico at Bernabeu on October 26.
Yamal only turned 17 in July, but he has already made 62 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 12 goals and registering 14 assists in the process, while he has three goals and nine assists in 17 caps for European champions Spain.
