Half-Time Report: Espanyol holding Real Madrid in final La Liga game

Real Madrid are unable to break down Espanyol in the first half of their La Liga game on the final day of the season.

Real Madrid have been unable to break down Espanyol in the first half of this afternoon's La Liga game on the final day of the season.

The home side struggled to create an early opening before they almost broke the deadlock with two quick chances either side of the half-hour mark.

First Sergio Ramos shot just wide of the target before Karim Benzema was denied by Kiko Casilla's fingertip save after a strong run into the box by the French forward.

Espanyol almost stole the lead four minutes before the break when Simao's goalbound shot was deflected over the top by Daniel Carvajal's last-ditch tackle.
