The Welshman, who came moments away from moving to China over the summer, has made eight appearances for Los Blancos in La Liga this term.

According to the Daily Mail, Bale has suffered another thigh strain that looks likely to keep him out of the meeting with the champions of Spain later this month.

The winger recently came under the spotlight for brandishing a banner which read "Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order" - a move that reportedly angered the Madrid hierarchy.
