Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is forced off during France's international friendly against Chile with a suspected ankle injury.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was forced off during France's international friendly with Chile on Tuesday evening with a suspected ankle injury.

The 21-year-old had to be substituted in the latter stages of the first half in Marseille, and he looked in severe discomfort when he departed the field.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Camavinga sprained his ankle during the contest, and he will now need to be assessed to determine the extent of the damage.

The midfielder has been a vital player for Real Madrid during the 2023-24 campaign, making 32 appearances in all competitions, contributing two assists in the process.

Camavinga won his 15th cap for France on Tuesday, meanwhile, and he will be named in their squad for this summer's European Championship providing that he is fit and available.

The midfielder picked up a knee injury during the November international break, which led to him missing eight matches for Real Madrid, and he has now suffered more frustration while representing his country.

Real Madrid will be back in action against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening, before welcoming Manchester City to Bernabeu for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on April 9.

France will assess Camavinga's injury, while Los Blancos will also conduct their own investigations, with a scan set to reveal the extent of the damage.

Real Madrid suffered a huge blow before the international break when it was revealed that number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had suffered another knee injury.

Courtois was in line to make his return from an ACL issue against Athletic, but he has undergone further knee surgery and is set to miss the rest of the campaign.

David Alaba is also out until next term with an ACL injury, but Eder Militao is expected to be back in the squad against Athletic, having recovered from the knee problem which has kept him out since August.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be asked about Camavinga's fitness when he addresses the media ahead of the league contest with Athletic.
