Carlo Ancelotti: 'I was not trusted at Paris Saint-Germain'

Carlo Ancelotti says that having the chance of becoming the coach at Real Madrid had no influence on his decision to leave to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he would have left his former club Paris Saint-Germain in the summer regardless of an approach from the La Liga giants.

The Italian tactician won the Ligue 1 title at the Parc des Princes last season before taking charge at the Santiago Bernabeu in June.

"Everybody thought that I left because I had Real Madrid, but this is not true. I made this decision as it had become too complicated at PSG," Ancelotti told L'Equipe. "When I signed with PSG I believed in a project. New players were joining, a team was about to be built and this is something that takes time.

"The first six months were good, but the following year I realised that the management had changed their point of view. There was no project anymore, just an idea to get results immediately."

"I did not feel the trust of Leonardo and the president [Nasser Al-Khelaifi]. It is true that we had played badly, but I thought that after the good three months we just had, I would have a bit of tranquility. The day after, I told Leonardo that I would not coach PSG in 2013-14."

Ancelotti spent two years at PSG.
