Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has had an operation in Lyon to remove a cyst from the back of his right knee.
However, the Frenchman, who scored 21 goals for Madrid last season, is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season which begins on July 15.
"The player Karim Benzema was present at the Centre Orthopedique Santy-Lyon where he underwent surgery to remove a ganglion cyst from his right knee," a statement from the club's medical staff read.
"The operation was carried out by Dr Sonnery-Cottet under the supervision of the Real Madrid Sanitas Medical Team."
Benzema has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital this summer.
