Aitor Karanka believes that Real Madrid are getting back to their best following today's 4-0 win over Getafe.
Los Blancos have now closed the gap on their other city rivals Atletico Madrid to four points, while there was further cause for celebration as Cristiano Ronaldo passed the 300-goal mark in club football.
The 39-year-old assistant, filling in for Jose Mourinho, said that Real are beginning to show the form of last season.
"We are definitely noticing an improvement," Karanka told reporters.
"In the first half we had some good chances, but after scoring the first goal the team showed the sort of strength they demonstrated last year. We have regained confidence."
Real travel to Granada for their next La Liga fixture on Saturday.
