Jose Mourinho bemoans the lack of values in the modern game as he leaves Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has criticised the values of modern football following his last game in charge of Real Madrid.

The 50-year-old, who is expected to be confirmed as Chelsea's new manager, took charge of a 4-2 win over Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday.

The Portuguese coach could not retain the title in his final season and bemoaned the lack of principals in the game following his exit.

"I believe success depends on objectives being reached by a group, who are able to identify, establish and fight for those goals," Mourinho told Jornal de Noticias.

"It's becoming more and more difficult for a group to work as one. Values have been lost - education and professionalism are becoming worse and worse.

"It is a problem in current society and football in particular - working as groups, not individually."

Mourinho arrived at the Bernabeu in 2010.
