Keylor Navas has claimed that he is fully prepared to battle Kiko Casilla for the gloves at Real Madrid this season.
The departure of Iker Casillas to Porto has opened up the goalkeeping position at Los Blancos, and Casilla has been signed from Espanyol to rival Navas between the sticks.
David de Gea could yet arrive from Manchester United as the number one, but Navas is confident that he has the credentials to claim the position in the coming campaign.
"Kiko Casilla is a great goalkeeper and if Madrid signed him then it's because he has good qualities. Competition is good, and I'll fight him [for the number one spot] with humility and respect," Navas told reporters.
"I'm very comfortable and have great faith in God. He wanted me to recover from my injury and now I'm at 100%. Now I can do what I enjoy again, which is training at 100% and awaiting first-team opportunities."
Navas played the full 90 minutes as Real Madrid faced Roma in their first pre-season game on Saturday.
