Dani Parejo explains non-celebration

Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo has said that he did not celebrate his goal in last night's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid out of "respect" for his former club.

Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo has revealed his reasons for not celebrating his goal in last night's 2-2 draw with former side Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Parejo scored Los Che's second of the match in the Spanish capital, but did not celebrate out of "respect" for the team that he represented between 2003 and 2009.

"I've grown up here and I was made here. I had many beautiful experiences here and I'll always have respect for what Madrid has given me," he said, according to AS.

"I behaved the way I should behave. In the end, a player who has spent several years outside and has been in several teams, I support some colours and for the rest I want to help my team.

"Football must be fair and you must try to win. The league deserves that."

Parejo joined Valencia from Getafe in 2011.
