Zinedine Zidane not ready for Real Madrid job

Zinedine Zidane moves to play down the suggestion that he could replace Rafael Benitez as Real Madrid's first-team coach.

Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he does not have the experience to manage Real Madrid amid speculation that he could replace coach Rafael Benitez.

The 43-year-old, who has been in charge of the club's B team since June 2014, is tipped to succeed Benitez following's Saturday's 4-0 defeat by bitter El Clasico rivals Barcelona.

Fans inside the Santiago Bernabeu waved white handkerchiefs at the full-time whistle as the supporters appear to have turned on the Spanish manager, 55.

"I am coach of Castilla and Benitez of the first team. Things are fine at the moment," the former France international is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"I am with Castilla and if I stay at the club it is the coach Castilla. Last year, at the end of the season, I had the feeling that I still lacked something to take over the first team.

"I am doing things little by little and I am in no rush. The important thing is to be happy day-to-day with what I am doing. Right now I'm at Castilla."

As a result of their defeat to the Catalans, Benitez's side sit six points behind the Primera Division leaders.
