Preview: Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid

Sports Mole looks ahead to Sunday's Madrid derby at the Vicente Calderon.

La Liga title contenders Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid meet on Sunday in an eagerly-anticipated Madrid derby.

The city rivals go into the match in third and first in the league table respectively, with Atletico lying three points adrift of Real.

The visitors moved to the top of the standings last weekend with a 3-0 victory over Elche, while Atletico lost by the same scoreline at Osasuna.

Carlo Ancelotti's men will be looking to repeat the victory that they picked up at the Vicente Calderon a fortnight ago in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie.

They come into this weekend's game off the back of a 6-1 win over Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Atletico trio Miranda, Koke and Arda Turan are all expected to return to side after they missed the defeat to Osasuna, while Diego could retain his place in the team, which would see Adrian drop to the bench.

Cristiano Ronaldo will return for Real after serving his three-game suspension, while Luka Modric should also start after missing the win over Elche due to a one-match ban.
