Marcelo hopeful on Carlo Ancelotti stay

Marcelo urges Real Madrid's hierarchy to keep faith in Carlo Ancelotti in what is shaping up to be a trophiless season for the reigning European champions.

Marcelo is hopeful that under-fire Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will remain in charge beyond the summer.

Ancelotti's future has been thrown into doubt after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Valencia all but ended their Liga title bid, having also exited the Champions League to Juventus.

Consequently, the Blancos looked poised to endure a trophiless season under the Italian, who led the club to Champions League and Copa del Rey glory last term.

"Madrid always fight for everything and this season we are no longer going to be able to fight for two titles," the Brazilian told the club's official website.

"La Liga is very difficult but not impossible. We are going to fight and try to win the last two games and see what happens.

"The manager is a winner. This year we have not been able to win two titles but I think that Ancelotti will stay on because he is a great manager."

Real sit four points behind Liga leaders Barcelona with two games remaining.
