Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make a formal approach for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to up their interest in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

Since leaving Real Betis for Naples in 2018, Ruiz has established himself as a key man at the Italian giants, contributing eight goals from 59 appearances in all competitions.

However, the form of the Spaniard has inevitably led to interest from clubs back home, a list which includes Barca and Real Madrid.

According to reports in Spain, it is the latter who are ready to make a formal approach for the 23-year-old in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

While Ruiz still has over three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, a release clause means that Napoli are attempting to agree fresh terms.

As it stands, however, Ruiz is said to have little interest in extending his stay in Serie A.
