Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti appears to rule out the club making any signings during the January transfer window.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has seemingly ruled out the Spanish giants making any moves during the January transfer window.

There had been claims that Los Blancos were considering signing a new centre-back this month, having lost David Alaba to a long-term knee issue.

Eder Militao has also been out since August with an ACL injury, meaning that Ancelotti's options in the middle of the defence are limited, but the Italian confirmed ahead of Wednesday's clash with Mallorca that the club would not be dipping into the market for another defender.

Dani Carvajal, Vinicius Junior and Arda Guler all returned to the squad against Mallorca, while Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy could feature against Arandina in the Copa del Rey this weekend, and Ancelotti has said that the team's returning players will mean that the squad will be boosted without bringing in additions.

"I keep in mind that in the past we have had problems this month, but it gives me confidence that we are recovering important players," Ancelotti told reporters following the 1-0 win over Mallorca.

"Camavinga and Mendy will be there for the next one and the condition of Vini Jr., who has been away for a long time, will improve. We suffered in the past, but I am confident that we can do it well this month."

Ancelotti also insisted that patience is required when it comes to Guler, who was an unused substitute against Mallorca, with the Turkey international still waiting to make his debut for the club.

"It's okay, don't worry. He has started training with the team and I am very aware that he is 18 years old. Calm and tranquillity with him because he will be a very important player for the present and future of the club," said the manager.

"It is important that there is patience. I have it and so does the player. Little by little he will have his minutes and his prominence because the quality is there."

The win over Mallorca moved leaders Real Madrid onto 48 points in La Liga, but they are only ahead of second-placed Girona on the head-to-head record, with the Catalan side enjoying a remarkable campaign.

"Today it has been difficult, against a strong team in the duels and that defends very well. We haven't been at our best level either. We have lacked freshness and success in the last third. We have won by a well-done dead-ball situation," added the manager.

"In this first round we have done well and I think it couldn't be done better. It's already part of the past and we have to look forward. It's going to be a challenging league.

"The surprise has been Girona, which is doing very well. It was foreseen from the beginning that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico [Madrid] were going to fight it until the end."

Real Madrid's attention will now switch to the Copa del Rey, with Los Blancos travelling to fourth-tier side Arandina in the last-32 stage of the competition on Saturday.
