Johan Cruyff: 'Real Madrid failed in transfer market'

Former Barcelona manager Johan Cruyff claims that Real Madrid "have not brought in what they had to bring in" in the transfer market.

Former Barcelona manager Johan Cruyff has claimed that Real Madrid failed to address their areas of need in the transfer market this season.

Real Madrid won a Champions League and Copa del Rey double last season, but they were knocked out of the European Cup in the semi-finals last week and by Atletico Madrid in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey.

Los Blancos also watched Barcelona secure the La Liga title on Sunday with a 1-0 victory at Atletico Madrid.

"They have not brought in what they had to bring in. It is evident that it has not worked as it had to work," Cruyff has been quoted as saying by AS.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be fighting for his job at the Bernabeu.
