Marcelo now wants to stay at Real Madrid following the return of Zinedine Zidane as head coach, according to a report.

Marcelo is now reportedly keen to stay at Real Madrid despite being strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in the early stages of 2019.

The Brazilian lost his starting place in the Madrid side to Sergio Reguilon earlier this season, with the experienced defender having to play second fiddle to the Spaniard while Julen Lopetegui was in charge.

Juventus had been strongly linked with a move for Marcelo, and it did appear that the South American was preparing to switch clubs in this summer's transfer window.

The 30-year-old has been reinstated to the first XI since Zinedine Zidane returned to the Bernabeu as head coach, though, and according to AS, the full-back now wants to stay in the Spanish capital.

Marcelo, who has a contract at Madrid until the summer of 2022, is nearing 500 appearances for the reigning European champions in all competitions.
