Real Madrid announce that midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has penned a new long-term contract at the Bernabeu.

Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has signed a new long-term contract at Real Madrid.

Having made an impact at Rennes during his teenage years, Camavinga was long tipped to move to a bigger club before he eventually signed for Los Blancos in 2021.

Still short of his 21st birthday, albeit by just three days, the France international has had to remain patient for first-team opportunities, as well as being deployed at left-back on occasions rather than in central midfield.

Nevertheless, Camavinga is regarded as one of Carlo Ancelotti's most important players, and that has been reflected by his game time during 2023-24.

Camavinga has been provided with 11 starts and four substitute outings in all competitions, with the majority of his appearances coming in the engine room.

Upon arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, Camavinga penned a six-year contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Real have now announced that fresh terms have been successfully negotiated with Camavinga, extending his deal until 2029.

The development is the latest in a number of new contracts with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo each penning new deals in recent weeks.

While Real were not in danger of losing any of the aforementioned players, club officials have moved to protect themselves against future bids.

More negotiations are expected to materialise in due course, Real currently having nine players who have less than two years remaining on their respective contracts.

Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez and Andriy Lunin all have deals that are due to expire at the end of this season.

Meanwhile, Daniel Carvajal, Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao have contracts until 2025, Real most likely to act with the latter of that trio in the coming weeks.
